Monday September 24, 2018


The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday September 24, 2018

Mayor Trytten called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Members present were, council members Larry Dahleen Rich Jensen and Jason, Kluender Rick Stoneman, Gary Skartland and Clerk Doris Troll . Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Phillip Gutt, Peggy Gonsalez, Rich Goggin, Judy Goggin, Jan Engebretson, Vickie Savick, Mary Aske

Agenda: Motion by Kluender seconded by Jensen to accept agenda. Vote 5-0, motion carried.

Council minutes: Motion to accept the September 10, 2018 by Jensen seconded by Kluender vote 5-0 motion carried.

Claims: A motion by Dahleen seconded by Kluender to approve the claims of $ 13,510.67, Vote of 5-0 motion carried.

Building Permits: motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender to approve a permit for C. Wilde, K Franks, A Steinke, vote 5-0, motion carried.

Public input: Mary Aske was present to see if in the future it would be possible for the Sale (Formerly Bone builders) group to hold their meetings in the community Center twice a week. Motion by Stoneman seconded by Jensen to let Sale hold their meetings at Community Center for no cost. Vote 5-0, motion carried.

Peggy Gonsalez was present request the use of the park picnic tables for the Benefit at Berma’s on Saturday 9-29, the council agreed that it was ok.

Marcia Dahleen reported that there has been a quilt made and hanging in The Quilt Shop with a Preparation H Theme.

Budget: there was a discussion as to doing next year. There was also a conversation as to combining the grocery store fund into the EDA fund to have one fund. Motion to make a resolution to move the Grocery Store fund into the EDA fund starting 1-1-2019 by Stoneman seconded by Jensen, vote 5-0, motion carried.
There was also a conversation as to what the Front Street Project as far as financing goes.

Maintenance: Gary is working on get ready for the winter, trimming trees.
Clerk update: Working on the Budget.

Mayor update: Doug read a letter from Lanice Engebretson as to her plans for retirement in the near future. He also reported on upcoming meetings he will be having with Region 9.

A motion to adjourn was made by Jensen seconded by Kluender, vote 5-0, motion carried.
