The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday February 26, 2018

 

Mayor Trytten called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Members present were Mayor Doug Trytten, council members Larry Dahleen, Rich Jensen, Jason Kluender, Gary Skartland and  Clerk Doris Troll, Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Mark Daly from Faribault County , Rick Goemann

 

Agenda: Motion by Kluender seconded by Dahleen to accept agenda additions of Kiester Market, Region 9 and the Community Garden vote 4-0, motion carried.

 

Council minutes: Motion to accept February 12, 2018 by Jensen seconded by Kluender vote 4-0 motion carried.  

 

Claims: A motion by Jensen seconded by Dahleen to approve the claims of $ 6153.73. Vote of 4-0 motion carried.    

 

County Road update: Mark Daly from Faribault county was present to give the council and update on when the roads would be done, the council asked Mr. Daly, what it soul cost the city to have them do the blocks from main street west up to 6th street. Mark would have to do some research before he knew. 

 

There was a motion to work with the county to have the 6th street  by the elevator to be repaved from main street up to county road 2 by kluender seconded by Jensen vote 4-0. Motion carried.

 

Kiester Market:  Rick Goemann was present to give the council an update on the Kiester Market.  They held their stockholders meeting last month with the process of having board members voted on.  All loans are being paid on time. An inventory was done to comply with an outstanding loan that is ties to the amount of inventory in the store.  As of to date they still do not have any current financial numbers as they still are  working with an auditor. They also would like to thank the City Council for the support that has been given to the Market Group.

 

Kiester Liquor Store: the discussion of turning the liquor store to be more profitable with the help of MMBA with a new program that they are starting to work with.  A motion  by Jensen seconded by Kluender to have MMBA come to work with the Liquor Store in regards to inventory. Vote 4-0, motion carried.

Public Input: there was a question of the statue in memory of Charlotte Wolfe was given to. The clerk was asked to check in to see who it was specifically given to.

 

Maintenance : Adam will be attending waste water school again in May with the testing to be done for certification at the end of the training.

 

Clerk update: the clerk will be gone to the clerk’s conference from Mar 20 to March 23.  The Auditors have been here and will give their report at the March 26, 2018 meeting.

 

Region 9: Ashley Aukes with be meeting with all the smaller towns in Faribault county to help them implement a 5-year comprehensive plan.

They will be meeting at the Kee Theatre on March 8 at 3 pm.

 

The Community garden:  Tony Trussell informed the Mayor that the land that was going to be donated for the garden is now unavailable from the resident.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Kluender seconded by Jensen vote 4-0  motion carried.
