UNAPPROVED MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL
The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday February , 12 2018
Larry Dahleen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Members present were, council members Rich Jensen, Jason Kluender, Larry Dahleen, Doris Troll Clerk, and Gary Skartland. Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Jerry Alphs. Michele Alphs, Lee Schumann, Tony Trussell, Karen Zabel, Shelia Chose
Agenda: Motion to accept agenda Kluender, seconded by Jensen, vote 3-0 motion carried.
Council minutes: Motion to accept January 22, 2018 Council minutes by Jensen seconded by Kluender, vote 3–0 motion carried.
Claims: A motion by Jensen seconded Kluender to approve the claims of $ 34,903.66 Vote of 3-0 motion carried.
Past Due Water billing: Motion by Kluender seconded by Jensen to shut off if not paid by 2-19-2018. Vote 3-0, motion carried.
KFAC: Karen Zabel and Shelia Chose were present to ask the council for 2 one day permits for their event on March 23 and March 24.
Motion to grant 2 one permits was made by Jensen and seconded by Kluender, Vote 3-0 motion carried.
Lee Schumann was present to tell the council an update on the Ambulance. The turbo has been fixed, as this am the water pump has gone out, and when is went out it took out a fan blade. S & H Diesel in Wells, is doing the repairs and we are hoping the ambulance is up and running by the end of the week.
Fire department: Jerry Alphs informed the council that they are having Doris looking into what they needs to be done to terminate on of the fire fighters, and that she will be contacting the lawyer on Tuesday.
Tony Trussell: was present to share the concept of Kiester Prosperity Garden, in which there would home grown produce, to benefit the community of Kiester, the lot has been donated for use, The issue of connecting to water has been donated. At this time Tony is asking that the council consider paying for the monthly water bill as well as possible taking care of the surrounding areas that may need to be mowed. He is also asking the city to consider a tax abatement on the donated property. No action was taken by the council at this time.
Maintenance report: Gary informed the council that the Market has been having issues with the milk cooler and he has received one quote for $ 6000.00 for the united that is before installation and freight. Gary has contacted the mosquito Control and Person Brothers and we are on the list for this year. The Water tower will be drained and cleaned again this year. We are still waiting on the installation of the fuel tank for the generator at the lift station.
Here was motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender to adjourn the meeting. Vote carried 3-0.
