KIESTER CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Monday January 22, 2018

The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday January 22, 2018.
Mayor Trytten called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Members present were Mayor Doug Trytten, council members Rich Jensen, Jason Kluender, Rick Stoneman, Larry Dahleen, Doris Troll Clerk, and Gary Skartland. Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Michele Alphs, Jerry Alphs, and Mary Steinke.
Agenda: Motion to accept agenda with the subtraction of the Market Group by Jensen, seconded by Kluender, vote 5-0 motion carried.
Council minutes: Motion to accept January 9, 2018 Council minutes with corrections by Jensen seconded by Dahleen, vote 5-0 motion carried.
Claims: A motion by Dahleen seconded Stoneman to approve the claims of
$ 15663.28Vote of 5-0 motion carried.
Jerry Alphs was present from the Fire Department to present officers for the 2018 year.
Fire Chief: Jerry Alphs, Assistant Chiefs: Brandon Hagenson, Jim Schroeder, Captains: Jason Kluender, Dan Willaby, Training Officers: Jordan Alphs, Sal Gonsalez , Fire Marshall, Jim Olson.
Motion by Stoneman Seconded by Jensen to accept the officers for 2018, vote 5-0, motion carried.
Jerry also thanked the City council for their help in the purchase of the new truck. We have ordered new bunker gear with grant monies, as well as working to purchase new SCBA ( self-contained breathing apparatus) also with grant monies.
The fire department has also added Maria Khronberg to the squad as she is already trained has moved to the area. We will be sending the department for training in March and April. The annual Fish Fry is on February 3, 2018 for 4 pm until gone. There has been a Facebook page set up for the Fire department on Facebook, to keep everyone up to date.

Maintenance report: The payloader should be here by the next meeting. The generator is ready to have the LP hooked up and FCA and Gary will be working on getting up and running. Gary will be starting to plow at midnight tonight to get the roads cleared from this current batch of snow.
Liquor Store: Mary was present to inform the council of the ideas they have been implementing to bring in more business to the liquor store: trying to get the area bars and liquor stores together for a greater volume discount for all,. They have sent flyers to all the homes via the Wells shopper. Mary also explained that they will be doing some drawings during the month of January and February.
Here was motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender t o adjourn the meeting. Vote carried 5-0.
