The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday June 26, 2017.


Mayor Trytten called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Members present were Mayor Doug Trytten, council members Rich Jensen, , Larry Dahleen, Rick Stoneman,  Jason Kluender, arrived late Gary Skartland, and Doris Troll Clerk.  Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Noah Smith, from Rueters’s, Cecil Simonson, Jerry Alphs, Brandon Hagenson, Machelle Steinke, Nick Fure, Amanda Fure, Wayne Johnson 


Agenda: Motion to accept agenda with the addition of public input, and change order of agenda by Stoneman , seconded by Jensen vote 4-0 motion carried.


Council minutes: Motion to accept June 12, 2017 Council minutes with corrections by Stoneman seconded by Dahleen vote 4-0 motion carried.


Claims: A motion by Jensen seconded by Dahleen to approve the claims of $ 14,462.99 Vote of 4-0 motion carried.  


Building permits: Motion by Jensen seconded by Stoneman to approve the building permit for M Salcedo, vote 4-0, motion carried.


Vacate Resolution:  There was a final reading of resolution 2017-06-26 to vacate a portion of Front street.

Motion to accept resolution as read by Stoneman seconded by Jensen, vote 4-0 motion carried.


Fire Department: presented the council with a request for a new equipment van. Motion to purchase chassis form Forest City Ford and have the current box placed on it, and to pay with the equipment CD’s  the Fire depart has. by Stoneman seconded by Dahleen, vote 4-0.


Payloader Presentation: Noah Smith, gave a presentation in regards to a payloader, he also answered question the council had. No action was taken.


Maintenance report:  Gary shared that Empire pipe was done with the mapping of Kiester, and they went down to clean out the catch basin as when they did they sucked out one of the floats along with the wiring, Minnesota pump was going to come down and repair the damage and we will send the bill to Empire Pipe for reimbursement of the damages there are also a lot of baby wipes as well as adult diapers that are showing up in the basket.  Gary will be placing signs up by the walking path that no motorized vehicles are allowed.  Kiester Days went well. They sprayed for mosquitos on Wednesday night. 


Clerk update:  The League Conference, was very informative.


Holes in pipes: there was a discussion in regards to the letter that David Frundt had sent to the City in regards to

The holes. A motion to Let Rich Jensen take the bill to Bevcomm, to see if they will pay for all or part of the

bill for the repair of the pipes. Seconded by Dahleen, vote 5-0, motion carried.


Public input:  request  the  depart heads come and stay for the full council meetings, not just request items and leave, and also have them a long term projection of what items they are going to be needing.  When we have presentations all council members should have a copy of items to be discussed.  Who is responsible for what cleaning at the retail center there is some confusion on who is to do what.  Golf Carts, there have been complaints of golf carts on the sidewalks.  No Golf should be on the sidewalks.


There was motion to adjourn by Stoneman seconded by Dahleen. Vote. 5-0, motion carried.
