KIESTER CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Monday May 8, 2017

The Kiester City council held a regular meeting on Monday May 8, 2017.
Mayor Trytten called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Members present were Mayor Doug Trytten, council members Rich Jensen, Jason Kluender, Rick Stoneman, Larry Dahleen, and Gary Skartland, clerk Doris Troll. Members from the public in attendance were Marcia Dahleen, Jerry Alphs, and Shawn Wenner from Empire Pipe.
Agenda: Motion to accept agenda with addition of generator by Jensen seconded by Kluender Stoneman, vote 5-0 motion carried.
Council minutes: Motion to accept April 24, 2017 Council minutes by Kluender seconded by Dahleen vote 5-0 motion carried.
Claims: A motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender to approve the claims of $ 21646.56 Vote of 4-0 motion carried.
Fire Department had a request to have the city pay for ½ of the mulch that they had ordered for the Fire Hall. There was a motion to pay for all the mulch by Stoneman seconded by Dahleen, vote 5-0, motion carried.
They had asked for a formal motion to pay the officers at the end of each year. A Motion made by Stoneman Seconded by Jensen, vote 4-0 with Kluender abstaining. Motion carried.
Public input: Marsha asked if any thought been given to maybe doing some landscaping and maybe power washing the building, also placing some plants would make it more welcoming to the public. Marsha was asked to work on the landscaping with the Liquor committee.
The portable sign for the city will be here next week.
Empire Pipe: was here to present the council with the findings with the videoing of the streets.
There was a motion to continue with the filming of the sewer lines this year by Dahleen seconded by Stoneman, vote 5-0, motion carried.
Past Due Water Bills: Motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender to shut off 1 to four on the list on 5-15-2017.
Maintenance report: Saturday May 13, 2017 is when the county will be in town for cleanup day.
Gary had received two bids for taking 4 trees down on the boulevard one from Don Slette for $ 1000.00 and one from Bernie Schultz for $ 800.00.
There was a motion to accept Bernie Schultz bid by Jensen seconded by Dahleen. Vote 5-0 motion carried.
Jason has had contact with the gentleman in regards to the generator that we had budgeted for down at the lift station.
The bids were opened for the fuel barrel at the shop. A motion by Kluender seconded by Stoneman to accept the Bid for $ 50.00 from Bruce Penning, Vote 4-1, Motion carried.
Clerk update: There will be a dog clinic on May 20 from 9 to 10:15 at the fire hall. I will be attending the leagues conference in June. Banyon will be here to train me on the new programs, Waste Management has called and asked if we have decided on the garbage service.
Mayor Trytten gave an update to the mayor’s conference he attended. Explaining, our problems in Kiester are nothing compared to other cities in the state.
Here was motion by Jensen seconded by Kluender to adjourn the meeting. Vote carried 5-0.
